On my wife’s insistence based on excellent Tripadvisor.com reviews, we tried this place and have been there for more than a couple of times now.
Named after Habanero(a type of chili) sauce, this Mexica Taqueria offers pick-up/takeaway only and is run by an NRI couple, Rita and Prakash, out of their passion for food. The restaurant is open only on Saturday and Sunday from 6 PM to 10 PM.
Refer to their website: http://salsahabanero.com for location and menu.
It’s better to place an order preferably before noon to avoid disappointment. As per my conversation with Prakash, they prepare limited material and from scratch including sauces.
Their friendliness, hygiene standards, and service are noteworthy. They do final preparation once you reach for the pick-up. It usually takes 10-15 mins to prepare the final takeaway and during that time the couple will be more than happy to have a conversation with you.
The restaurant itself is a small kitchen and pickup area decorated with Mexican knick-knacks and posters describing Mexican food terminologies.
The menu is small but covers all types of Mexican dishes except hard Tacos which are much prevalent in India. We have tried almost all items from their menu and none disappointed us.
Burritos are large in size and very filling. Cheese Enchilada comes as DIY kit and the final dish has to be prepared at home. It takes less than 2 mins to do that. A must try is Nacho Grande, crisp nachos topped with a great mix of cheese, beans and sauces.
The authentic Mexican has very balanced taste and flavors and may taste a little different from fusion and localized Mexican available in run-of-the-mill restaurants.
