For a perfect romantic dinner – Skky, Ramada, Powai, Mumbai

Last year in January we planned to visit Skky, Ramada but had to literally cancel our reservation for some reason. A year went by and finally one fine Sunday morning this January we decided to fulfill our year old wish.

Table booking is recommended as the place usually remains fully booked on weekends. There is also a cover charge of Rs. 1500/- per person on Friday and Saturday.

The biggest let down is what you most likely to encounter first, ‘the approach to Ramada.’ Narrow road, heavy traffic, unruly auto drivers and crowded market are driver’s nightmare.

Spacious sitting in a maze-like arrangement, dotted with mild lights, plants and surrounded by stone platform filled with shallow water gives the ambiance a classy look.

We got ushered to a table and got a chance to select one as per our choice as most tables were still unoccupied at 7:30 PM.

We were handed over a tablet which contained the food menu comprising Indian, Continental, Japanese and oriental cuisine.

We got started with Tom Yam Phak, a Thai veg soup. The hot sips helped counter the chilly winter breeze. Next, we tried Avocado and Cream Cheese rolls which too delighted us. Then we ordered 2 Indian starters. Dahi Ke Kabab and Kamal Kakdi Shami. We liked hung curd made Dahi Ke Kabab but Kamal Kakdi Ki Shami didn’t give a great impression.

In mains, we tried Wok Tossed Soba Veg. The stir-fried Japanese noodles with loads of vegetables were great in taste.

We ended the meal with Dark Chocolate Pastry and it turned out to be a perfect end to the great meal. A must try for dark chocolate lovers.

Service is friendly and surely at par with similar places but lacks the classy and polished feel that the ambiance radiates.

Experience at the Skky outweighs the effort taken to reach there. So, will we ever visit the place again? Most likely… yes, but not without considering the bad traffic situation.

Food: 4.5/5

Ambiance: 5/5

Service: 4/5

VFM: 4.5/5 (~Rs. 2500/- with all taxes)

Overall: 4.5/5
